AFOA Canada was founded in 1999 as a not-for-profit association to help Indigenous people improve the management and governance of their communities and organizations by enhancing practices and skills in finance, management, and governance. AFOA Canada believes that stronger management is key to self-determination and building a better future for Indigenous peoples. With over 25 years of service, AFOA Canada has become a national centre of excellence and innovation. It is the only organization in Canada dedicated to the capacity building and daily needs of Indigenous professionals in leadership, finance, administration, and program management—building a strong community of professionals.
